Artist Statement
My work explores the human condition — the tension between revealing and concealing, movement and stillness, vulnerability and strength. While my starting point is often personal experience, I aim to evoke a broader, shared sense of being human.
In my drawings and images, the human figure appears in a state of transformation. Rather than striving for anatomical accuracy, I search for what lies beneath the surface: gestures, impressions, and inner states. Through layering, fragmentation, and overlapping lines, figures emerge that are recognisably human yet remain fluid and open — more human-like than anatomically defined.
My work is often informed by personal experiences as well as by literature, philosophical and psychological ideas, and music. These influences shape the atmosphere and rhythm of the work rather than appearing as direct references. During the act of drawing, I respond intuitively to movement, memory, and thought, allowing the image to evolve as a layered reflection of perception.
Eroticism subtly permeates my work, not as provocation but as a fundamental human force — the desire for connection, touch, and presence. Through the interaction of bodies, lines, and empty spaces, I explore how we perceive ourselves and one another.
My practice develops through series, each centered around a theme that touches on the complexity of human existence.
In a time shaped by digital saturation, curated identities, and the constant pressure to perform, my work seeks to slow down the gaze. It offers a counter-image to the polished surface of contemporary culture: one that embraces uncertainty, vulnerability, and the layered nature of being.
